Dr John Lansbury (OS 1958)


The School was deeply saddened to receive the news of the passing of Dr John Lansbury (OS 1958).

Dr Lansbury died peacefully on 22nd October 2015 in Stepping Hill Hospital having not recovered from a stroke a few weeks earlier.

Dr Lansbury’s funeral was held on Friday, 6th November 2015, at 11.30 at St Mary’s Church in Cheadle.

John qualified in Medicine at Liverpool and for most of his career he was a GP in Heaton Mersey. A talented rugby player, he played as hooker for Sale and was a member of the North West of England side that famously beat the All-Blacks. John’s eldest son Alistair is a consultant neurologist in Leeds, his second son Guy is a microbiologist and his youngest child Emma is a consultant anaesthetist in Melbourne.
John was pre-deceased by his wife Pat who was also a doctor.
