His Honour John Kenneth Burke QC (OS 1957)
John Kenneth Burke (OS1957) passed away suddenly on 23rd March 2018.
After leaving Stockport Grammar School, John joined the Cheshire Regiment (UK and Far East), serving between 1958 and 1960. In 1962 he joined the 12/13 Parachute Regiment T.A. serving until 1967.
After National Service he studied law and in 1965 was called to the Bar, becoming a Recorder of the Crown Court in 1980, a Queen’s Counsel in 1985 and a Circuit Judge in 1992.
He retired in 2005 and spent his retirement as an artist, painting landscapes and townscapes – http://www.freelance-artwork.co.uk/jkburke/.
He was a very witty, intelligent and generous man and will be greatly missed by his wife, Margaret, children and grandchildren.
