Stephen Taylor (OS 1971)

The School was saddened to hear of the death of Stephen Taylor (OS 1971).  Stephen died on the 12th August 2014, aged 61.

Stephen’s wife, Carol, tells us: Stephen often talked about the many happy years he had at SGS and we all enjoyed his stories about some of the characters that taught at the school. In particular, the school fostered Stephen’s love of healthy competition and sport and he was a keen member of the rugby team as well as competing in swimming and athletics events. I think he held the high jump record for some time – in fact he may still be a record holder.

Our son, Harvey Taylor, was also educated at SGS and was extremely happy at the school. Stephen and I both thoroughly enjoyed our involvement as parents and I have many happy family memories of supporting football, rugby and cricket events. Harvey and I will continue to benefit from many happy memories and lasting friendships made through SGS.

Stephen leaves a huge gap in our lives but Harvey and I still feel his presence keenly, especially on the side lines at university rugby matches.
