    Old Stopfordian Dinner

    All Old Stopfordians are warmly invited to the Annual Dinner on Friday 15th March. Join us in the Hallam Hall for an evening of good food and company with the chance to catch up with old school friends. This black tie event is held each year on the evening of Founder’s Day.

  • Pupils new and old honour fallen soldiers in Remembrance Day services

    Dignitaries and almost 100 Old Stopfordians visited Stockport Grammar School for a Remembrance Day service as pupils from the Senior and Junior School commemorated the brave men and women who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

    Group Captain Mike Baulkwill, OS 1988, has had a distinguished and interesting career in the RAF, and over the summer took part in the RAF 100 flypast over Buckingham Palace.

    Twenty teams of keen golfers took to the course on Thursday 14th June at Stockport Golf Club for the annual Stockport Grammar School Bursary Golf Day in association with Brewin Dolphin.

  • New CD to feature music from Douglas Steele & John Turner (OS 1961)

    ‘The Silver Stars at Play’ is a new collection of world premiere recordings of contemporary Christmas carols sung by Kantos Chamber Choir, directed by Elspeth Slorach.  The CD features music from the late SGS Music Master, Douglas Steele, and renowned British recorder player and fellow Old Stopfordian, John Turner (OS 1961).

  • The Music of Douglas Steele included in the ABRSM new singing syllabus

    The music of Stockport Grammar School’s inspirational late Music Master, Mr Douglas Steele, has been included in The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music’s (ABRSM) new singing syllabus for candidates who will be taking exams from January 2018 onwards.

    Renowned British recorder player and fellow Old Stopfordian, John Turner (OS 1961), has released his new album ‘Christmas Card Carols’.  The album includes a collection of striking and varied new carols composed by John Turner, and features the work of Stockport Grammar’s inspirational former music master, Mr Douglas Steele.
