Ken Clough (OS 1955)

Died: 25th May 2013
Notes: Keen golfer Mr Clough left the school in 1955.

With sadness the Old Stopfordians' Association reports the death of Ken Clough on Saturday 25th May. Ken was due to take over the presidency of the association in 2012 but his illness prevented this.

Ken’s interest in sport was fostered during his time at Stockport Grammar School. On leaving school in 1955 he played football for the Old Stops. However, cricket was his main love and he joined  Offerton Cricket Club where he later became captain and eventually life president.

Not far behind his love of cricket came golf. Ken joined Reddish Vale Golf Club in 1972 and during the years that followed was captain, president on two occasions and for many years treasurer.

He also captained the Old Stops golfing society in 2007. Ken was an accountant and spent much of his working life in the motor industry.

He was a prominent freemason and master of his lodge. Ken always had a cheerful demeanour, a very positive outlook on life, a keen sense of humour and will be sorely missed by his wife Julia and family, and his many friends.
