Spectacular Art and Design work on show at annual exhibition

Art Exhibition 2018

Parents, staff and pupils were joined by an impressed crowd of visitors from across the country at the annual Art, Design and Technology Exhibition.

The show, which represented the culmination of two years of study for GCSE and A-level pupils, showcased their talent and the inspiration they had drawn from many sources including visits to Castlefield in Manchester, the Walker Art Gallery, Tate Britain, the National Portrait Gallery and Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

The pupils employed a range of media and techniques including painting, sculpture, dypoint and lino prints, colographs, monoprints, ceramics, plaster, batik and silk painting and photography.

Design Technology Exhibition 2018

Mr Richard Davies, Head of Art, Design and Technology said:

“It is no exaggeration to say that the quality of the work displayed from each of the Art, Design and Technology specialist areas is of the highest order. A particular pleasure is seeing the range of subject matter and media employed so successfully by the boys and girls, as this asserts the ethos of the department in seeking to encourage each pupil to present a personal response. The comments from visitors to the show on the open evening offering congratulations and praise to the pupils were richly deserved.”
