Enriching curriculum to put spring in pupils’ steps this term
Early Years Foundation Stage pupils have an inspiring term ahead of them where they will be encouraged to explore, experience, discover, practise skills and develop ideas.
The boys and girls will be learning through carefully guided activities and stories such as ‘Hansel and Gretel’, ‘Rapunzel’, ‘10 Little Dinosaurs’ and the ‘Magic Train Ride’.
As their learning weaves through these stories, as well as many more engaging tales, the children will also be marking celebrated events such as Chinese New Year and Easter and getting involved in immersive initiatives like Book Week.
Also on the agenda are winter welly walks and ice-scapades, as well as the fun and excitement of craft afternoons with parents. Additionally, there will be some surprise stories in store for the Reception children.
Young pupils who like to take a holistic approach to health can take part in yoga, which continues in 2019. The activity, which is good for muscle development and core flexibility, benefits from brand new mats.
The broad curriculum helps pupils develop physically and emotionally and to interact socially, increasing their confidence, independence and communication skills – enabling them to make good progress over the year.
