Seaside fun on year six football tour
Our year six football players were blessed with beautiful weather as they went on their annual tour to the Fylde coast.
The 19 excited footballers left Stockport at lunchtime on the Friday as both the A and B teams faced Bolton School in the afternoon.
The boys then jumped on-board the school minibus and made their way to St. Ives Hotel, their accommodation for the night. An earlier than anticipated arrival time mean that that the boys had the chance to have a run around on the beach before the traditional visit to the Seafarer Restaurant for their evening meal.
On Saturday morning, the group visited the playground at Stanley Park before a challenge match between themselves on the all-weather surface.
With the sun shining, the boys ate their lunch on the promenade at Blackpool before strolling to Bloomfield Road to watch the Blackpool v Hartlepool United League Two match.
Upon arrival at the stadium, the boys were given goodie bags and £5 vouchers which they promptly spent in the club’s souvenir shop! After signing the boys up to the Young Seasiders club they then made their way to their seats where they saw the home team record a 2-1 win.
After the match, the exhausted boys headed back to school to be picked up by their families.
Captain James Carr enjoyed his time at the seaside saying: “The weather was fantastic and we all had a great time. My favourite part of the trip was playing takedown tig on the beach and trying to run out to the sea’s edge. I also found out that Bloomfield Road served tasty rock!”
Pupil Blake Weedon enjoyed the atmosphere at the Blackpool game commenting: “I liked being part of the fans.”
