STEM Day inspires Junior School pupils

Year Three and Four pupils enjoyed a day engaging in activities involving Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).

The day began with Poppy S’s (Y3H) mum, Mrs Helen Saunders, Strategic Communications Manager at Cisco Systems, talking to the children about engineering in the real world – discussing how it is present in most aspects of life without us realising.

The children then took part in various activities that required them to think logically. From building the tallest structure to making a helicopter and from transferring water without spilling it to creating chemical reactions, the children were encouraged to solve problems and think of solutions – placing them in situations experienced by engineers, scientists and mathematicians.

It was a jam packed day that inspired children to go home and test out what they had learnt.
