Climbing Wall

Our state-of-the-art climbing wall is named after former pupil Peter Boardman, who is renowned as one of the greats of British Himalayan mountaineering.

The wall, which is situated in the Sports Hall, reaches a height of 20 metres and has interchangeable slots allowing our Outdoor Education Coordinator Mr Hughes and climbing coach Mr Pinder to set up different routes to challenge pupils.

Pupil climbing the wall

The pupils use the skills they have learnt on the wall on trips to countryside locations where they go climbing and bouldering. They also take part in competitions such as Climbing Hanger’s Winter Bouldering League and the Manchester Schools Climbing Competition.
