Well done to our Upper Sixth who are collecting their A-level results this morning, with 86% of the grades awarded at A* to B and 58% at A* and A. You are a fantastic year group and we are immensely proud of your hard work and achievements!

The latest edition of Old Stops’ Review, our annual magazine featuring news, events and more with Old Stopfordians, is out now.

Fifth Year and Sixth Form dancers put on a stunning show as they performed in a ‘Taste of Dance’, a smaller scale live-streamed dance show put on towards the end of the 2020-2021 academic year.

The final issue of the school’s termly magazine, Taking Stock, of the 2020-2021 academic year is now available to download and read from the Magazines and Publications section of the school website.

Senior School pupils demonstrated their sporting ability by taking part in House Athletics activities.

Following last year’s successful launch, we are delighted that the school’s literary magazine ‘Like, Literary’ has returned for a second edition.

In place of the Biology department’s traditional Chester Zoo Day, Second Year pupils had the day off timetable to work on a project about endangered species.

Issue Six of the ‘SGS Historian’, a magazine created by Lower Sixth pupils in the History department, is now available to read.

Lower Sixth students attended a two-day Higher Education conference held at school to assist them with their forthcoming applications for University, Higher and Degree level apprenticeships and the world of work.

Four dancers from SGS have been offered places at prestigious dance schools after delivering fantastic performances at their auditions.

Six Lower Sixth students utilised their problem solving and engineering skills as they took part in this year’s Industrial Cadets Gold Project.

Second Year pupils enhanced their problem solving, teamwork and communication skills as they took part in The National Enterprise Challenge’s Key Stage 3 Challenge.

Now in its seventh year, the Stockport Grammar School Year 5 Art Competition, sponsored by Brewin Dolphin, celebrated the artwork of 220 local young artists from 59 primary schools in a virtual arena this year.

In this most extraordinary of years, our Upper Sixth students continue to receive offers from prestigious institutions across the country.

Each year we invite Year Five children to enjoy a day in the Senior School as they prepare for the exciting transition to secondary school.

We were delighted to learn that two of our Fifth Year pupils, Colleen Devlin and Eliza Pinkstone, had been selected to take part in the Olympic Swimming Trials in April at the London Aquatics Centre in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

On the 19th March we celebrated 534 years since the foundation of Stockport Grammar School by Sir Edmond Shaa, Prime Warden of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths and Mayor of London.  Pupils, staff and Old Stopfordians marked the occasion with a Virtual Founder’s Day Service directed by School Chaplain Reverend Leaver.

Year Five children from local primary schools are invited to get creative this half-term and over the Easter break by producing some colourful artwork on the theme of ‘Portrait’ to enter into this year’s SGS Art Competition.

To mark this year’s World Book Day, pupils in the Junior and Senior Schools took part in a wide range of book-themed activities – both at home and in school.
