This Christmas season, SGS took their panto ‘Cinderella’ on the road as they visited Blackfriars Academy to perform their hilarious take on the classic fairy tale and to run workshops with the drama students at the special school.

The audience at the 2023 Christmas Concert were treated to a range of festive and non-festive songs as a number of the school’s musical ensembles performed in the Dining Hall.

The Drama department’s fabulous production of the pantomime ‘Cinderella’ had the Main Hall audience in stitches.

Our incredible musicians kicked off the year of formal concerts at SGS with an excellent evening of music in the Dining Hall for the Autumn Concert.

Pupils and staff across the Junior and Senior Schools held Remembrance Services in memory of those who gave their lives in the service of their country.

Charlie Harrison, former Head Boy and one of the co-winners of the Albert Johnston Travel Award, had a great experience as he visited the cities of Berlin, Leipzig and Dresden during a tour of Germany.

The 16th annual Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Presentation Evening celebrated the hard work of the school’s pupils who took part at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels this year.

As we approached half-term, the Sports department took time to reflect on how the season has gone so far.

Following on from their expedition to Honduras, Biology pupils from Fifth Year to Sixth Form visited the Natural History Museum in London at the invitation of Dr Erica McAlister, the Senior Curator for invertebrates and internationally renowned Diptera (flies) expert.

It was a pleasure to welcome more than 300 pupils and parents to the 2023 Careers Convention.

We are delighted to announce that Stockport Grammar School has received the highest possible rating from the Arts Council England, with a Platinum Artsmark Award.

The grand surroundings of the Stockport Plaza played host to the 2023 Senior School Speech Day as the school community came together to celebrate a year of success at SGS.

The 2023 edition of ‘Like, Literary’, the school’s annual Literary magazine, has been published and, this year, the publication looks at the idea of literature as a healing force.

Issue 8 of the ‘SGS Historian’, a magazine created by Sixth Form students and History staff, is now available to read.

SGS dancers embraced the opportunity to share the pieces they have been working on in their dance clubs since Easter at the Summer Showcase.
