Geoffrey Dale Smith (OS 1954)
Stockport Grammar School was saddened to receive notice of the death of Former Old Stopfordian President, Treasurer & Member of Staff, Geoffrey Dale Smith (OS 1952), on 1st September 2021.
Mr Smith’s daughter, Emma Richards nee Smith (OS 1997), informed the school that he died peacefully at Station House Care Home, Crewe on the morning of 1st September 2021.
Mr Smith attended Stockport Grammar School between 1947-1952 and was elected as the Old Stopfordian President in 1984 and held the position of Treasurer of the Old Stopfordians’ Association for many years. He also joined the SGS Bursary team in 1989 until 2005. His daughter Emma also attended Stockport Grammar School between 1990-1997.
Mr Smith was a keen football player and played and refereed for the Old Stopfordians’ football team and was a member of the Old Stopfordians’ lodge for many years.
Mr Smith’s daughter, Emma, is keen to get in touch with fellow members of the Old Stopfordians’ lodge and football team ahead of the funeral, which is to be held on 16th September 2021.
