  • School Closure – Continuing pupils’ learning

    Following the Prime Minister’s announcement, the school closed from the end of the day on Friday 20th March. In line with the national announcements a small number of pupils whose parents are key workers are being cared for in school.

    Four amazing performances of ‘Bethides’, a new version of William Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ created by the Classics department – in conjunction with the English and Drama departments – astounded the audiences at this year’s Classics Play.

    Members of Chamber Choir, accompanied by the Music staff, enjoyed a wonderful trip to The University of Oxford where they sang Evensong with the University College Chapel Choir and discovered more about university pathways.

  • Art Competition showcases young artists’ creativity

    Now in its sixth year, the Stockport Grammar School Year 5 Art Competition sponsored by Brewin Dolphin welcomed 132 artists from 18 local primary schools to an exhibition evening on Thursday 6th February to show their work to family and friends.

  • Old Stopfordian Professor Sir Anthony Cheetham FRS (OS 1965) awarded Knighthood

    Old Stopfordian Professor Sir Anthony Cheetham FRS (OS 1965) has been awarded a knighthood in the New Year’s Honours List 2020 for services to materials chemistry, UK science and global outreach.  His area of research is inorganic and hybrid materials and involves their synthesis, characterisation and applications.
