Over the summer holiday we received the news that Issue 9 of the SGS Historian magazine was chosen as runner up in Young Historian Awards Best School History Magazine competition (sponsored by the Mid-Trent and Mercia Branch).

Visitors to the 2024 A Level and GCSE Art Exhibition were presented with an outstanding collection of work made by pupils in the Fifth Year and Upper Sixth that marked the culmination of two years of study.

Design and Technology (DT) is an inspiring subject that gives young people the skills and abilities to engage positively with the designed and made world and to harness the benefits of technology.

SGS dancers had the time of their lives as they took to the stage at Sadler’s Wells Theatre for the Making Moves National Platform.

Lower Sixth Art students enjoyed fine weather as they ventured into Manchester to spend the day drawing and photographing in different locations.

At the end of the summer term, 13 Sixth Form students, along with Mr Allen and Miss Hockaday, embarked on a three-week Outlook expedition to Vietnam and Cambodia.

Geographers from Third Year, Fourth Year and Lower Sixth travelled to the mid-Atlantic islands of the Azores at the end of summer term.

Towards the end of the 2023-2024 academic year, 264 young mathematicians from 38 primary schools across Greater Manchester gathered at Stockport Grammar School for the annual Maths Challenge for Year 5 children.

The 2024 edition of ‘Like, Literary’, the school’s annual literary magazine, has been published and, this year, the publication offers an exploration of our global society by the SGS community.

The school community came together to celebrate a year of success at the 2024 Senior School Speech Day in the superb art deco surroundings of The Stockport Plaza.

50 pupils from Third Year to Sixth Form participated in a London theatre extravaganza, organised and led by Drama teacher Miss Lucy Mitchell.
