Care, Community and Character

Three pupils laughing together

Our strong pastoral team, including Form Tutors, Heads of Year, and Heads of Section, along with school nurses, counsellors, and Sixth Form mentors, ensures that children feel confident and happy at school. Form Tutors are the first contact for parents and oversee each pupil’s welfare, academic progress, and extra-curricular involvement.

We are a vibrant and welcoming community. Assemblies, house events, and a wide range of activities help pupils work together and feel they belong at SGS. There are many opportunities for pupils to develop leadership skills and contribute positively to others’ lives. We seek to develop pupils’ character, preparing them for life. Our Character Education programme encourages growth in enthusiasm, curiosity, perseverance, community spirit, and social awareness.

The school is deeply connected to the Stockport community and has partnerships with local organisations and charities, as well as further afield.
