Netballers impress at National Finals
The U12, U13, U14 and U15 netball teams were excited to head to Loughborough University as they took part in their Sisters N Sport Plate Finals.
Finals Day involved the top four teams from the Plate competition. To win the competition, schools had to win both their semi-final and final matches.
The U13s were elated to win their competition following two hard-fought victories. In the semi-final they saw off Sir William Perkins’s School 21-20 before winning by four points in the final against Heath Mount School with a 19-15 score line. Captain Jess Wood led by example and was named player of the match in the competition decider.
The U14s were also celebrating as they picked up the top prize. They defeated Sandringham School 16-14 in the last-four tie before seeing off Bridgewater Hall 18-14 in the final. Lola Ferris was thrilled to awarded player of the match in the final.
The U12s were pleased with their runners-up medals in their competition. A strong performance in the semi-final saw them defeat St Swithun’s School 23-11. In the final they were unable to get the better of Streatham & Clapham High School despite an amazing effort.
Finally, the U15s put in a strong showing in their competition. They narrowly lost 17-14 to Pipers Corner School in the semi-final before being beaten by Rugby School in the third/fourth playoff.
Head of Netball Miss Rachel Towell said: “Myself, the Sports department and the School as a whole are so proud of our netball players. Getting to the final four of a national competition is an amazing achievement and all of the girls showed great desire and ability each and every time they took to the court.”
