Anil Ruia Esq OBE JP DL


Anil Ruia is a Director at Botraco Limited, involved in various trading activities and also the Chairman of Warren Tea Limited India, which is engaged in the business of growing, manufacture and sale of black tea. He has a law degree from King’s College, London and is a chartered accountant.

Anil has many external interests involving organisations in community, business, educational and charitable affairs.  He is currently a Board Member of Arts Council England and a member of the HEFCE Board. In the past Anil was a Board Member of the North West Development Agency, The North West Cultural Consortium, The Manchester Asian Business Forum, M2002 Limited, The Commonwealth Film Festival, a Trustee of National Museums Liverpool and Chair of the Governing Body of the University of Manchester together with a non-executive directorship at Granada Television Limited.

In October 2002 was elected President of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce and Industry and was awarded an OBE in January 2001 for services to business.

In 2010 Anil was appointed High Sheriff of Greater Manchester.
