Junior School pupils sing at the front of the church at the 2023 Carol Service

The SGS community came together in the stunning surroundings of St George’s Church as we held the Senior School and Junior School Carol Services.

Senior School

On Wednesday 13th December. a packed-out church hosted the Senior School Carol Service. The evening featured readings from our pupils and performances from our talented choirs.

The service began with a reading from the Head, Mrs Sarah Capewell, after which guests rang in the Christmas spirit with the carol ‘Hark! The Herald Angels Sing’. Reverend Liz Leaver led the congregation in a blessing before our Chamber Choir sang Pettman’s ‘I Saw A Maiden’.

More festive carols followed with favourites such as ‘God Rest You Merry Gentlemen’, ‘O Come, All Ye Faithful’ and ‘Good King Wenceslas’ amongst those performed on the evening.

Our Chamber Choir and Junior Chamber delighted with subsequent performances of Rutter’s ‘Christmas Lullaby’, ‘Candlelight Carol’ (Rutter) and Gaudete (Anon).

Well done to our readers Second Year Marco Burns, Head of School Raayan Akbar, Fourth Year Molly Keenan, Head of School Anna Howard, Lower Sixth Priya Burrow and First Year William Lloyd who delivered readings of the ‘Nativity Story’.
