Visit and Apply

At Stockport Grammar School we inspire our pupils to be ambitious, to take advantage of SGS’s exceptional academic and co-curricular opportunities and to explore and expand the boundaries of their potential. Our exceptionally high standard of pastoral care creates a warm, caring and supportive environment.

There are a variety of ways you can experience what life as a SGS pupil is like.

Junior School and Pre-Reception

The next Junior School and Pre-Reception Open Event, which is designed to show you and your family important aspects of life at Stockport Grammar School, takes place on Saturday 3rd October 2020. Booking is required.

If you are unable to join us for the open event we also offer school tours. Whilst the school is closed to visitors, we are pleased to be able to offer you the opportunity to have a private and interactive virtual tour with the Junior School Headmaster.

For more information please go to the Visit the Junior School and Pre-Reception page. You can apply for a place by visiting the Apply to the Junior School page.

Senior School

The Senior School open events for the 2020-2021 academic year take place on Saturday 19th September and Saturday 14th November 2020. Booking is required.

You can also request a Virtual Visit which brings together short films, helpful information and a video or phone call with a member of the SGS Admissions Team or Senior Management Team.

When visitors are allowed back into school, we will be able to take you on a tour of SGS.

This summer’s Year Five Taster Days have been rescheduled to Saturday 5th September.

To book your place for any of these events, and to find out more, please head to the Visit the Senior School page. Visit the Apply to the Senior School page to fill out an application form to apply for a place at SGS.

Sixth Form

Our Sixth Form is open for applications from pupils from other schools, as well as current Stockport Grammar pupils.

The 16+ Open Evening for 2021 admissions takes place on Tuesday 13th October 2020. Booking is required.

Prospective 16+ students and their parents are also very welcome to arrange a tour of the school – once visitors are allowed back on school grounds.

We also hold Sixth Form taster days which allow Fifth Year pupils to experience a day in our Sixth Form to help them find out more about the subjects they are interested in, meet our current students and staff and see our school.

Head to Visit the Sixth Form for more information and to apply for a place, visit the Apply to the Sixth Form page.
