Hallé ensemble selections thrill talented musicians

Musicians that have been chosen for Hallé ensembles

The school’s talented musicians consistently impress the SGS community at concerts and recitals and a number of them are celebrating after being selected for Hallé ensembles.

On the singing front, Fourth Year Bella Rich has been chosen for the Hallé Youth Choir whilst Second Year Sadie Norris and Third Year Amelia Gauld have been picked for the Hallé Youth Training Choir.

Meanwhile, Fourth Years James Caine and Clara Zelhof will turn out for the Hallé Youth Orchestra.

The Hallé Youth Choir is one of the country’s leading mixed-voice youth choirs for talented young singers aged 13-19 years across the North West and the Youth Training Choir is for promising young singers aged 13-15 who want to develop their musical and vocal skills in a friendly and supportive environment.

The Hallé Youth Orchestra offers outstanding young instrumentalists, aged 13-19 years, the chance to experience playing in a full symphony orchestra supported by professional musicians.

For some of the pupils, their selection for this year follows on from being chosen and impressing for previous years’ Hallé ensembles – such as the Hallé Children’s Choir.

SGS Director of Music Mr Michael Dow said: “Many congratulations to all of our pupils that have been selected for these prestigious ensembles. These are fantastic achievements and a great credit to the talent and hard work of all involved.

“SGS has a long-standing tradition of pupils gaining membership of prestigious regional and national choirs, bands and orchestras and it is great to see this continuing.”
