Mr Copping with some of the pupils who have positions of responsibility

As part of the Junior School’s commitment to developing skills of citizenship, personal responsibility and care for one another, we are pleased to announce the names of the Year Six pupils that are taking up positions of responsibility.

Head Boy and Head Girl

Marco B and Minnie H will be the Head Boy and Head Girl for the Autumn term.

The positions of Head Boy and Head Girl change each term, meaning that up to three Head Boys and three Head Girls are selected over the course of the academic year.

The roles of Head Boy and Head Girl are given to children who have shown consistent dedication to school life throughout their time at Stockport Grammar Junior School (SGJS).

Two pupils from each of the school’s four Houses are chosen to be a House Captain on a termly basis.

This year’s Sports Captains are Pearl H (Hockey), Poppy D (Netball), Thomas W (Rugby), Toby L (Football) and Harry G and Anabel B-C (Swimming).

The Leader of the Orchestra is selected by the Music Co-ordinator and the selection is based on musical ability, reliability and leadership. This year’s Leader of the Orchestra is Alicia H.

SGJS hold a number of charity initiatives to raise funds for a range of amazing charities. Under the leadership of the Charity Co-ordinator Mrs Lisa Turner, the Charity Reps play an integral part in getting the whole Junior School community involved. This year’s Charity Reps are Sienna E and Adara D.

After announcing the appointments, Junior School Headmaster Mr Matthew Copping said: “Well done to everyone who has secured a position of responsibility. We are excited to work with them and support them in their new roles.

“By taking up one of these positions, pupils promote a common ethos with shared values, develop a selfless approach and sense of community spirit and it allows them to encounter and deal with compromise.”

More information about these roles can be found on the Positions of Responsibility page.
