Senior School students were delighted to welcome a popular author to the school and to learn about her journey to becoming published.

The author of the popular ‘S.T.A.G.S’ series, M A Bennett, visited the school and spoke about how books like ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Harry Potter’ had influenced her to put pen to paper and become an author.

Students from across the Senior School were interested to hear how her popular book series came to be, and some students even got to meet the author and have their book signed.

The visit comes as the Oxford University graduate is promoting her two new books: ‘Tigers’, as well as a children’s book called ‘The Ship of Doom’.

Speaking in the Library, the author said: “It’s really nice to be back at Stockport Grammar School.

“The last time I was here was just before the pandemic – in fact this was the last school I came to before everything was locked down so it felt fitting to make the school my first visit now things are getting back to normal.”

The next author visit will be on Wednesday 9th February when former Children’s Laureate Anne Fine OBE heads to the school to promote her latest book, ‘Aftershocks’.
