Students shine in Classics Play performances

The cast of the 2024 Classics Play

Sixth Form students had the Hallam Hall audience ‘quacking’ up during performances of this year’s Classics Play, ‘Birds’.

The play was written by Aristophanes and first performed way back in 414BC but, with the help of Mr Alastair Thorley, our performers gave the play a modern twist.

The play follows two Athenians who decide to create a new society in the city of the birds as climate change, caused by humans, has rendered the Earth to be uninhabitable.

Filled with witty puns, bird poetry and, of course, Taylor Swift – the play was a ‘hoot’ from start to finish.

Mr Thorley said: “This is our sixteenth Classics Play and we had a lot of fun throughout the rehearsal process. I am grateful to the cast for their enthusiasm, commitment, wit and imagination.”

Thank you to the cast and crew and to everyone who came and watched one of the performances.
