For the attention of parents of Fourth Year pupils
In the first term of the Fifth Year we will ask pupils to let us know which subjects they are considering at A-Level. We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that all pupils in Middle School can continue to Sixth Form if they are able to cope with the academic rigour of A-Levels and if their conduct and attitude in the Middle School has been satisfactory. Pupils should pay careful attention to their subject teachers’ comments on their suitability to manage A-Level standard work. They should achieve a minimum of 7 GCSE subjects at grade C or above, which must include English Language, Mathematics, and a science. Pupils should normally gain at least a grade A in the subjects they wish to study at AS. For subjects not available at GCSE, the A must be in a related subject. We do consider all applications on an individual basis and we do our best to assist pupils in finding a course of study that is right for them if they wish to stay at SGS, even if they do not meet all the academic criteria above. If you have any queries about Sixth Form study at Stockport Grammar School, please contact Mrs Smith at email@example.com
