Meet the Drama Staff

Our talented Drama team look forward to welcoming you to Stockport Grammar School.

Mr Matt King-Sayce (Director of Drama)

After training at the University of Cambridge, Mr King-Sayce has worked all over the UK in both state and independent education as a leader, teacher, coach, professional tutor and mentor for over 20 years. Alongside his work for GRJ Education, he leads a number of subject-specific and leadership courses for Keynote Educational. After leading a session on Health and Wellbeing at last year’s HMC Head’s PA Conference in Stratford, Mr King-Sayce is looking forward to working with colleagues from HMC schools again. Mr King-Sayce currently works with Arts Council England and their bridge organisations to promote arts and culture within education, as well as leading a support network for teachers in schools who deliver Drama. He also leads the Local Cultural Education Partnership (LCEP) which oversees the development of provisions for all children to have access to arts and culture. He is also an examiner and subject advisor for both GCSE and A Level Drama qualifications in the UK.

Mrs Alison Moffatt

Mrs Moffatt studied at Bretton Hall specialising in Devised Theatre. She worked at the Green Room Theatre in Manchester in Marketing and Education and was the Director of a Children’s Theatre company before becoming a Drama Teacher. She has been at SGS since 2009 and one of her favourite parts of Drama is seeing the bonds and friendships that are created between pupils involved in our productions. Her favourite theatre style is devising as she loves the freedom and creativity it brings for participant and audience alike.

Miss Lucy Mitchell

Miss Mitchell studied Theatre studies and History at University College Chester. She really enjoys the way that the two subjects compliment each other (who doesn’t love a costume drama?)

Theatre covers a wide range of areas in terms of style, genres and times which is probably the main appeal, the variety that is studied.

Miss Mitchell started at SGS in September 2022, having worked previously in state schools in Stockport, Wigan, Salford and London. She is a visiting examiner for A Level Theatre Studies and has worked extensively with regional and National Theatres. Her favourite style is musical theatre and comedies.
